ASME RA-S-1.2 – Severe Accident Progression and Radiological Release (Level 2) PRA Standard for Nuclear Power Plant Applications for Light Water Reactors (LWRs)

This standard1 sets forth the requirements for probabilistic risk assessments (PRAs) used to support risk-informed decisions for commercial light water reactor (LWR) nuclear power plants2. Unique requirements are specified as needed for specific reactor designs.

Sections 1, 3, and 5 of this standard generally mirror the analogous information in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)/American Nuclear Society (ANS) PRA Standard, ASME/ANS RA-Sa-2009 [1]3. In cases where deviations from that document are believed to be of particular interest, these deviations are underlined.
