This International Standard specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, manufacturing, testing and documentation of ball, check, gate and plug valves for subsea application in offshore pipeline systems meeting the requirements of ISO 13623 for the petroleum and natural gas industries.This International Standard is not applicable to valves for pressure ratings exceeding PN 420 (Class 2500).

This edition of API Spec 6DSS is the identical national adoption of ISO 14723, Petroleum and natural gas industries-Pipeline transportation systems-subsea pipeline valves. This specification contains the API Monogram Annex as part of the U.S. national adoption.

This specification defines the requirements for the design, manufacturing, quality control, assembly, testing, and documentation of ball, check, gate, plug, and axial on?off valves for application in subsea pipeline systems for the petroleum and natural gas industries. The document contains requirements for both full-opening and reduced-opening valves.

Valves covered by this specification include one of the following pressure classes: Class 150, Class 300, Class 600, Class 900, Class 1500, or Class 2500. This specification is not applicable to valves for pressure ratings exceeding Class 2500.

API Spec 6DSS specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, manufacturing, testing and documentation of ball, check, gate and plug valves for subsea application in offshore pipeline systems meeting the requirements of ISO 13623 for the petroleum and natural gas industries.

This International Standard is not applicable to valves for pressure ratings exceeding PN 420 (Class 2500).Annex A of this International Standard provides guidelines to assist the purchaser with valve type selection and specification of requirements when ordering valves.

Annex B of this International Standard provides a checklist summary of information to be provided by the manufacturer and/or purchaser when ordering valves. Informative Annex F is included giving requirements of the API Monogram Program for equipment covered in the specification.

Normative Annex G includes technical enhancements to the base ISO document.This edition of API Spec 6DSS is the modified national adoption of ISO 14723, Petroleum and natural gas industries- Pipeline transportation systems-Subsea pipeline valves.
